2023 Campaign: Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation

Pavillon Kat Demes- building a special home away from home to keep families close to their sick children

Kurling for Kids has committed to multi-year funding for the funding of a room in the brand new Pavillon Kat Demes which opened in January 2024. Pavillon Kat Demes will offer all the comforts of home, just steps away from The Children’s Hospital. Amenities will include six private rooms with bathrooms, a common kitchen and family area and an outside terrace. Hundreds of families will be served each year, from as far away as Nunavik.

Kurling for Kids will be contributing to Pavillon Kat Demes with a gift of $250,000 and in turn will be offered the opportunity to name one of the private rooms.
A plaque bearing the name Kurling for Kids will be installed next to the room in the common corridor.

It is estimated that up to 500 families will benefit from the Pavillon Kat Demes each year.

Pavillon Kat Demes

The first and only residence in Montreal offering free accommodations for parents of hospitalized children.

Just a five-minute walk from The Montreal Children’s Hospital stands an oasis for families facing an unimaginable challenge — their child’s severe illness. Pavillon Kat Demes will offer parents from regions outside of Montreal with temporary lodgings at no cost while their child receives specialized care at The Children’s. This haven is made possible thanks to the compassion and generosity of the Montreal community, whose donations financed 100 % of this project.

With six furnished private bedrooms and washrooms, the Pavillon Kat Demes provides families with a tranquil space to sleep, eat and recharge. It will also allow families to connect with other parents facing similar challenges and find strength in their shared experiences.

Kurling for Kids is very proud to announce that the first family that visited the Pavillon Kat Demes chose to stay in the room funded by Kurling for Kids!

The total commitment from K4K is $250,000 and the balance remaining to be funded as of March 28, 2024 is $61,277.57.
