Newborn Sat Monitors - $5,200 each

BTHC Foundation is raising funds for additional infant oxygen saturation monitors. Currently there are three on the ward but for a department that has delivered eight babies in a 12-hour period, there are typically more babies than monitors. Recent guidelines require that each infant warmer at delivery have an oxygen saturation monitor, forcing labor and delivery staff to be constantly moving monitors between rooms when they could be helping patients.

Why is this a critical piece of equipment?

Oxygen saturation monitoring measures the amount of oxygen in your baby's blood. It helps the health-care team know if your child’s body is getting the oxygen it needs and can tell them if your child's body is correctly using the oxygen your child is breathing. Oxygen saturation monitoring is also used to screen for congenital heart problems in newborns. To provide timely care, diagnose important health issues, and improve staff efficiency, additional monitors are needed for BTHC’s littlest patients.
