2025-2029 Proposal - Supporting Montreal Children’s Hospital: Manometry, Pediatric Simulation, Tiny Tim Fund

Join Us in Transforming Children’s Lives

At Kurling for Kids, we are driven by one mission: supporting children and their families receiving care in children’s hospitals. For over 27 years, we have raised more than $5,000,000 in Quebec through curling tournaments, in support of the Montreal Children’s Hospital and its Foundation.

We have committed to a multi-year contribution of $945,000 to support important initiatives that benefit children and families. Funds raised through Kurling for Kids help support these projects and contribute to advancing care and services for young patients.

Together, we can help ensure that children receive the care they need and that families feel supported throughout their journey. Your involvement truly makes a difference.

Manometry Equipment for the Dysphagia Clinic – $120,000

For children who struggle with eating and breathing, the dysphagia clinic is a lifeline. With the help of manometry equipment, we can diagnose and treat swallowing difficulties. This vital equipment uses probes to measure pressure and muscle constrictions in the esophagus during swallowing, identifying issues that could otherwise go undetected. Correctly identifying these problems can lead to surgical interventions that drastically improve the lives of children. This equipment will benefit 48-72 patients every year.

Institute of Pediatric Simulation – $575,000

A game-changer in pediatric care, the Institute of Pediatric Simulation is a $2.5M project aimed at improving the skills of healthcare professionals. The mobile unit brings high-quality simulations to real patient-care environments like the emergency department and neonatal care units, ensuring medical teams are fully prepared for any situation. This initiative will receive $575,000 over the next four years to keep the team in place and ensure they have the necessary equipment to simulate real-world scenarios.

Tiny Tim Fund – $250,000

Families with a sick child often face financial hardship, losing up to 40% of their annual income. The Tiny Tim Fund eases the burden by providing essential support such as parking, meals, transportation, and even medication. It also helps fund the Pavilion Kat Demes, a “home away from home” for families traveling long distances for their child’s care. Over $250,000 is needed to continue supporting these families and ensure they receive the help they desperately need during difficult times.

The total commitment from K4K is $945,000 and the balance remaining to be funded as of February 7, 2025 is $786,277.57.
