2026 Proposal - Speech & Language Therapy Camp
Manitoba has one of the highest cleft lip/palate rates per capita in Canada, with about 65 children born each year who require the expertise of MCCD specialists at HSC Children's Hospital.
The Speech & Language Therapy Camp created by this multi-disciplinary craniofacial team is the first of its kind in Canada. Through play-based therapy, nature exploration, and interactive activities, children work on speech and language skills, while also building confidence, resilience, and friendships with peers who share similar experiences.
The success of this programming for children aged two to ten with craniofacial differences has created such demand by families that spaces were filled months before it began.
Camp provides a safe and supportive environment where kids feel understood and accepted by meeting others like themselves. They leave not only with stronger communication skills, but also with a sense of belonging and positive coping strategies that support their lifelong well-being.
Kurling for Kids' commitment for this camp is $30,000
